What can Noma do today?
Chat with Noma
Sign in to chat with Noma about everyday questions and needs, using long-term memory, home information, and device control.
Memory for more personal conversations
With memory enabled, Noma extracts useful personal details, preferences, and household routines for future relevant conversations. Manage or delete memories, or disable automatic memory, in settings.
Check and control devices with Home Assistant
After connecting and authorizing Home Assistant, ask about your home and devices or request supported adjustments. Available actions depend on connected devices, their capabilities, and your permissions.
Your home and devices at a glance
View and control connected devices on the Home page. Environmental readings such as temperature and humidity require corresponding data sources in Home Assistant.
How do I get started?
Sign in to start using Noma
Open Noma chat, sign in, and start chatting with long-term memory, home connections, and device control.
Prepare Home Assistant and your devices
Run Home Assistant on a device at home. Make sure the devices you want to control are connected, online, and working. Skip installation if you already use Home Assistant.
Connect and authorize in Noma
Open Settings → Home Assistant, follow Install Home Assistant → Set up connection → Authorize Home Assistant → Connected. Run the command generated for your account in Docker, verify connectivity, then create and enter a long-lived access token. Use the current command shown in your account.
Check devices, then make a request
On the Home pagecheck device names and states, then return to chat with a specific request. Review tool results and the actual device state. Regular AI chat works without connected devices.
Try it: control a light
This example describes verification in a simulated environment, not a household case study or testimonial. Verify actual behavior in your own authorized home.
- Prepare a Home Assistant test device that supports on/off control and that your account can access, such as a light or virtual switch named “Living room ambient light.”
- Connect and authorize Noma, confirm the device appears on the Home page, then ask “Turn off the living room ambient light.”
- Check the action result, then confirm the light is off in Home Assistant or on the device itself. If the action fails, follow the error message and check the actual device state.
The project’s simulated service tests cover successful and failed control results. They verify software behavior, not every device brand, network, or real household.
Requirements, limitations, and future plans
- Device control currently requires Home Assistant, a working connection, online devices, and control permissions. Supported actions vary, and compatibility with all brands and models is not guaranteed.
- Sign-in is required to use Noma. Home status and device control also require an authorized Home Assistant connection.
- Memory must be enabled, and not every message is saved. Noma can misunderstand requests or make mistakes. Review saved memories, action results, and actual device states.
- Noma currently includes a free daily chat limit. Check the app for your current limit. Free access is not a promise of unlimited use or a permanently free service.
- Voice wake-up, direct device connections without Home Assistant, and proactive home services are ideas we’re exploring. They are not generally available today. Voice calls are a separate, existing feature.
For details on your chat, memory, and device data, and your rights to manage and delete it, see the Privacy Policy; for usage terms, see the Terms of Service。
Official website and project source
Noma’s official website is noma-ai.cloud, which publishes this product information.
Find Noma’s source code on GitHub:Yellowweii/Noma. It supports deployment on a home computer, NAS, or server, connecting to Home Assistant over the local network.
Local deployments still need internet access and a Noma cloud account. Noma Cloud handles conversations, memory, and sessions. For setup instructions, supported devices, and requirements, see the repository’s local deployment guide。
